			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Virtually all people experience stressful events or situations that overwhelm our natural coping mechanisms. And although some people are biologically prone to stress, many outside factors influence susceptibility as well.<br />
Studies indicate that some people are more vulnerable to the effects of stress than others. Older adults; women in general, especially working mothers and pregnant women; less-educated people; divorced or widowed people; people experiencing financial strains such as long-term unemployment; people who are the targets of discrimination; uninsured and underinsured people; and people who simply live in cities all seem to be particularly susceptible to health-related stress problems.<br />
People who are less emotionally stable or have high anxiety levels tend to experience certain events as more stressful than healthy people do. And the lack of an established network of family and friends predisposes us to stress-related health problems such as heart disease and infections. Caregivers, children and medical professionals are also frequently found to be at higher risk for stress-related disorders.<br />
Job-related stress is particularly likely to be chronic because it is such a large part of life. Stress reduces a worker&#8217;s effectiveness by impairing concentration, causing sleeplessness and increasing the risk of illness, back problems, accidents and lost time. At its worst extremes, stress that places a burden on our hearts and circulation can often be fatal. The Japanese have a word for sudden death due to overwork: karoushi.</p>
<h2>Medical Affects of Chronic Stress</h2>
<p>The stress response of the body is like an airplane readying for take-off. Virtually all systems, such as the heart and blood vessels, the immune system, the lungs, the digestive system, the sensory organs, and the brain are modified to meet the perceived danger. A stress-filled life really seems to raise the odds of heart disease and stroke down the rad. Researchers have found that after middle-age, those who report chronic stress face a somewhat higher risk of fatal or non-fatal heart disease or stroke over the years. It is now believed that constant stress takes its toll on our arteries, causing chronically high levels of stress hormones and pushing people to maintain unhealthy habits like smoking.<br />
Stressed-out men are twice as likely as their peers to die of a stroke. There are weaker such findings among women, which is likely due to the fairly low number of heart disease and stroke cases among women, rather than a resistance to the health effects of chronic stress. Women seem slightly more susceptible to the effects of stress than men.<br />
Simply put, too much stress puts you at dire risk for health problems. Whether it comes from one event or the buildup of many small events, stress causes major physical alterations that often lead to health problems. Here is a list of some of these changes:</p>
<ul>
<li>Our heart rates increase, to move blood to our muscles and brains.</li>
<li>Our blood pressures go up.</li>
<li>Our breathing rates increase.</li>
<li>Our digestion slows down.</li>
<li>Our perspiration increases.</li>
<li>We feel a rush of strength at first, but over time stress makes us feel weak.</li>
</ul>
<p>These reactions helped our ancestors survive threats by preparing for either &#8220;fight or flight.&#8221; Today, our bodies still react the same way, but the events that cause stress do not require this ancient mechanism.</p>

<p>Even I don&#8217;t do any physical or strenuous work even then I feel extremely tired and low energy. I have lost enthusiasm in doing any work and fell like sleeping every moment. My legs shake when I walk I don&#8217;t like eating anything I don&#8217;t like working General body weakness is felt all the time All the time I am irritated without any reason Feel darkness in front of my eyes. I am having vertigo every moment and my heads spin round and round.</p>
<h3>What has happened to me? Asked my patient</h3>
<p>These are some of the very common complaints I come across in my clinic in routine. With such patients I deal by following ayurvedic line of treatment. In ayurveda this kind of symptoms are called ? kalm ? meaning getting fatigued without doing any work. This condition occurs in body when our digestive system fails to digest food properly thereby initiating production of a toxin known as ama.<br />
Ama formation occurs when there is lack of proper digestion in body and body is unable to assimilate any of the digested material that is very essential for energy production in body. This toxin hence effecting body also pollutes the little bit part of food that has been assimilated. This situation can also arise when jatharagni (can be compared to digestive juices) decreases, which results in lowering of digestive power of our digestive system and if in this state we keep on ingesting food, will lead to formation of ama (toxin). This condition also arises when the vata, pitta and kapha dosha gets imbalanced leading to total disturbance in body.<br />
In simple terminology we can say that ama formation occurs due to indigestion (ajeern as called in ayurveda).<br />
Common symptoms of indigestion are heaviness in body, distension of abdomen, and loss of appetite, coated tongue, headache, mental and physical weakness, constipation, and flatulence, nausea, vertigo and hyperacidity.<br />
Ayurveda visualize kalm as only symptoms not as a disease. Main line of treatment is that to detoxify the ama production that will help in recovering normal digestion hence will be able to digest the ama.</p>
<h3>Advised life style during the kalm stage</h3>
<p>· Avoid in take of heavy and greasy stuff · Avoid alcohol · Avoid sweets and chocolates · Avoid non vegetarian food stuff · Take only light and easly digestible food · Morning and evening walk should be added in routine · Drink plenty of water especially luke warm water · Avoid cold stuff like ice creams, cold drinks etc.</p>
<h3>Herbal supplements that will helps in relieving with kalm</h3>
<h4>Triphala:</h4>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Around 18 million US citizens suffer from stress, depression and anxiety every year and for many of them, understanding why they endure the torment is difficult to establish. This is because of the many magic bullet myths associated with these problems. Here are five such myths along with the root cause as to why stress, anxiety and depression arise.</p>
<h3>1. Chemical imbalances within the brain.</h3>
<p>This is a theory with no proven clinical evidence to support it. The theory alleges that low levels of certain neurotransmitters in the brain cause people to suffer from anxiety, stress or depression. Drug therapy is used to treat the imbalance. But there is no test to establish levels of these chemicals before patients are prescribed drugs and therefore, no way of knowing which chemicals are depleted and which ones aren&#8217;t. So there&#8217;s no way of measuring success either. Another issue: Over seventy percent of people who stop taking antidepressants enter into second and further episodes of stress, anxiety or depression. For another one third, they are totally ineffective. But if chemical imbalances haven&#8217;t been proven to cause these problems, why are they being treated?</p>
<h3>2. Nutritionally deficient diet,</h3>
<p>Either not eating enough fresh food or eating way too much junk food. There are many people throughout the world who don&#8217;t eat a good diet. Most of our forefathers would&#8217;ve struggled to eat the recommended 5 portions of fruit and vegetables every day. Does this mean all of these people suffered from stress, depression or anxiety? Highly unlikely. And I know people whose diet is largely junk and they don&#8217;t suffer from stress, depression or anxiety. Also, does it mean that everybody who eats a nutritionally sound diet won&#8217;t suffer from these problems? Again, and I include myself in this, there are people who eat a balanced, nutritionally sound diet but suffer from stress, depression or anxiety. Why?</p>
<h3>3. Toxins.</h3>
<p>The premise here is that as our air is polluted, containing harmful, poisonous or toxic chemicals, the air we breathe is causing more and more people to enter into stressful or depressive episodes. If that is the case, then everybody who lives in a modern city â?? New York, LA, Tokyo, Athens, Paris, London, Mexico City, Rome, Berlin, Chicago, Moscow, etc. â?? must all be enduring the misery of mental torment because each of them breathe the same polluted air. Is this so? Of course not. And by the same rule, does it mean that if you live outside polluted cities, in coastal towns or villages in the beautiful countryside etc. â?? then you&#8217;re immune from mental trauma? Certainly it does not.</p>
<h3>4. Trauma.</h3>
<p>This means that if you encounter a traumatic event, say death of a loved one, or moving home or relationship breakdown for example, such an event can cause stress, depression or anxiety. But such events happen to every human being and not all of them become depressed. This means that events cannot cause these problems, but the way we respond to them can.</p>
<h3>5. Genetics.</h3>
<p>If your parents suffered these problems, you will too. This does hold a little truth. Because while there is no genetic link to these problems, you can learn the modes of behavior that cause these problems from parents throughout childhood. So, if your parents reacted to events in their lives in ways that caused them to be stressed, depressed or anxious, you will learn them too. The good news is that just as you learned them you can unlearn them.<br />
The problem with all of the above is that they shift focus from outside yourself to try and find a magic bullet (drugs, diet, events, genetics, toxins) when the answer to them lies within yourself. None of the above can cause depression and therefore, you cannot find a cure by addressing them. Curing stress, depression and anxiety can only be done by treating the root cause and that root cause lies in the way you make sense out of everything in your life.</p>
