Isagenix is a spread of food plan and nutritional cleaning merchandise bought by way of a spread of independent distributors. Over the previous few months there has been a each lot of unfavorable and positive publicity, critiques and comments about Isagenix Distributor and it may be difficult for individuals to establish how effective the product actually is.

One of the causes for the level of discussion surrounding the Isagenix is that it’s only sold by way of unbiased distributors. Some network marketing firms utilizing the same model up to now have damaged the fame of the industry by selling and promoting poor quality and expensive products.

The Isagenix company obviously have a big marketing price range and have invested in glossy advertising supplies and an interactive website, nonetheless it is important to look past this and look at what the product comprises, how it is formulated, how secure it is to use, what testing has been finished and finally how effective the product is.

The cleaning products market may be very competitive and there are new diets, dietary supplements and programs being introduced everyday. Some of these merchandise have been scientifically formulated and are protected to make use of, nevertheless some products usually are not able to live as much as their formidable claims and a few may actually be unsafe to use.

Looking on the product itself, Isagenix comprises of a number of pure ingredients. Some of these substances have identified and documented cleaning properties and are used in quite a lot of the competing products on the market.

Isagenix is promoted as a nutritional cleaning product and the makers are very cautious to keep away from making over exaggerated statements in regards to the benefits. The product is described as a nutritional cleaning product. They state that nutritional cleansing can help improve general health and help with sustaining a wholesome weight.

The makers of Isagenix check with a study that shows the common weight loss from a 9 day cleanse utilizing Isagenix was 7lbs, this determine is taken from the average weight reduction during an independent examine undertaken by a serious university.

Isagenix recently took a professional-energetic stance to fight detrimental publicity and now require all distributors to submit advertising and marketing materials to their compliance department before being published. This ensures all promotional materials carry company authorized messages and do not make untrue or unrealistic claims in regards to the product.

Because of the measurement of the corporate, the variety of clients and the significant amount of money spent on product improvement, testing and analysis, Isagenix has in all probability been examined extra thoroughly than another nutritional cleansing supplements.

Can your house to clean, without knowing about Eco friendly products? Some of these chemicals we used to clean the air in our homes are a negative effect. If you knew when you are cleaning, I have actually been released for the health of your family in danger, do not want to change? Many people believe that to clean the house has a smell of chlorine or other cleaning products from the factory. This is not all of the case. You can choose environmentally friendly cleaning products to keep your home clean and your family safe without the “knock you down at the door” smell of some of the commercial cleaning products on the market.

What are Eco friendly products? Did you look at the ads for detergents containing organic or green. These products meet the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) guidelines for the ingredients of products that are safe for the environment. If these products do not poison there are much safer for you and your family members as well, is not it?

Just follow me, with approximately 50 – 100 Humans are cleaned by they own way. Not all options are a cleaning business in the aisles today. If you are able to do this, you can. A portion of the consideration for Eco friendly products is not to use chemicals that can affect the distribution of water and soil, and finally also to animals and humans like us.

Therefore, just check the product’s labels when you are in the store. If you want for the products that are specifically designated as an Eco-Friendly cleaning products. Most major manufacturers have come out with their own line of cleaning agents geared towards being gentler to our bodies and the earth.

In addition to buying organic products, you can also get a house cleaning. This is exactly what people do before using the products that we have today or every day were invented. The good news is that many of the ingredients already in your home.

You’ll need to invest in some spray bottles. When making homemade products, the spray bottles can be reused to make fresh solutions as often as you need to. What a great way to not only use friendlier products, but also recycle. Let’s begin with water. It will be the base for most of the products you use. Water doesn’t permanently stain and is safe for all surfaces. Different substances can be diluted with water to reduce their strength.

Human beings, birds, animals, fish and other under water creatures need oxygen. Aerobic need clean water, with oxygen dissolved in it. We all are aware of this. The individual, community, the nation and the whole world can help minimize water contamination.

The water pollution destroys the dissolved oxygen in the water. The aesthetic quality of lakes and rivers is reduced. The aquatic life is threatened. Its reproductive ability is diminished. Humans consume fish. It is a nutritious food. The fish from polluted water is a health hazard.

Sources of bacterial contamination are human and animal wastes. The butchers do not seem to care much about water pollution. The animal wastes are deposited just any where convenient. The authorities do not seem to implement any waste disposal proposal or project. There are exceptions and they are far and few.

The distance between the septic tank and the well or the stream or river is not clearly defined. It should be well defined and implemented, disregarding the personal or political consideration. In some area, inundation or infiltration by flood waters every year provide an excellent breeding base for bacteria. Flood waters commonly contain high levels of bacteria. Even small depressions in our compound filled with flood water provide an excellent breeding ground for ever multiplying bacteria.

Septic tanks dug less than 10 meters from the well could cause pollution, especially when it is coarse-textured soil. Water-tight casings are very essential for such wells. Bacteria can infiltrate with water through the soil. Any systems with casings or caps that are not water-tight are vulnerable to such infiltration.

Another broad class of bacteria found in our vicinity is ‘coliforms’. Feces from warm blooded animals or human beings can point out pathogenic organisms that cause diseases. Coliforms include E.coli, Salmonella, Klebsiella and Erwinia. Pathogenic organisms can cause intestinal infections, dysentery, hepatitis, typhoid fever and cholera.

We are well into our alphabetic A to Z journey on global warming. C for Carbon dioxide is one of the main players in the global warming problem. Carbon dioxide, chemical symbol co2 is a chemical compound composed of one carbon and two oxygen atoms.

CO2 is present in Earth’s atmosphere at a low concentration, around 0.038% by volume, and is one of many gases that make up Earth’s atmosphere. CO2 is measured in parts per million by volume of air (PPMV). Atmospheric carbon dioxide comes from many natural sources including volcanic eruptions, the combustion of organic matter, the respiration of living aerobic organisms, and unfortunately from manmade (anthropogenic) sources, which we all know from the news is being linked to global warming and climate change.

Since the industrial revolution particularly the mid nineteenth century, the burning of fossil fuels for energy to provide electricity, power factories, homes and for all our transport needs has released massive amounts of carbon dioxide (CO2) into the atmosphere. Not only the burning of fossil fuels, but changes in the use of the land for agriculture and deforestation has further added to global manmade CO2 levels. According to the World Wildlife fund some 29 gigatons which is 29 billion metric tons of CO2 was added to the atmosphere in 2004 alone from burning coal, oil and gas.

If we go back 250 years or so, to pre- industrial times, usually taken to be around 1750, CO2 levels in the atmosphere were around 280 parts per million by volume (ppmv). However levels of the gas have been increasing steadily ever since.

HOW DO WE KNOW THIS?

Well, pioneering scientist Charles Keeling (1928-2005) started taking atmospheric CO2 measurements in 1958 from Mauna Loa volcano in Hawaii. Those measurements have been recorded and are now known as The Keeling Curve. Charles Keeling was the professor of oceanography at the Scripps Institute of Oceanography (SIO) which is in San Diego, USA, and he followed the work of another eminent scientist and director of the SIO, Roger Revelle. Dr Revelle was instrumental in creating the Geophysical Year in 1958 and SIO’s first programme looking at atmospheric CO2 back in 1956.

Monthly CO2 measurements were collected from a height of 3397 metres (11,140 feet) at the Mauna Loa Observatory situated on the slopes of Earth’s largest volcano, Mauna Loa in Hawaii which was chosen for its remoteness to populations and vegetation so as not to skewer the readings.

Measurements have been taken over a 50 year period between 1958 and present, which show a rise in CO2 levels of 70 ppmv from around 315 ppmv to around their current level of 385 ppmv. The effects of CO2 in the atmosphere can even be measured on a cyclical basis, and this can be seen in the saw toothed keeling graph. Because there is greater land area, and thus far more plant life in the Northern Hemisphere compared to the Southern Hemisphere, there is an annual fluctuation of about 5 ppmv peaking in May and reaching a minimum in October. This corresponds to the Northern Hemisphere growing season. The amount of CO2 in the atmosphere drops towards spring when uptake by the plants and trees by photosynthesis is greatest. The opposite occurs in winter when the plants die off and CO2 levels increase again.

Continuous readings in this way have only been taken since 1958, however scientists have discovered that prior to the industrial era, circa 1750, CO2 levels stood at around 280 ppmv and this data has been revealed from air trapped in ice core records, taken from both the Antarctic and Arctic. Perhaps the most startling is the fact that CO2 levels are now around 85 ppmv higher than at any time during the last 650,000 years. Data from ice core records go back that far and have shown atmospheric CO2 levels to range from 180-300 ppmv during that period. The level of CO2 in our atmosphere now stands at 385 ppmv, and is increasing steadily.

The Keeling curve has become one of the most recognisable images in modern science as it shows with no uncertainty the effects of humankind’s fossil fuel pollution of Earth’s atmosphere.

CO2 levels have increased by 37% since pre-industrial times and have been increasing by an average of almost 1.4 ppmv a year since measurements began in 1958, although some months the figure has been higher, sometimes lower. In the last ten years however, the average increase appears to be around 1.9 ppmv each year, which indicates the rate of increase is increasing.

Whilst CO2 is a natural greenhouse gas, and important in natural concentrations to maintain Earth’s climate, anthropogenic CO2 is now pushing up Earth’s temperature. Earth’s natural sinks, like the Amazon rainforest and the oceans struggle to absorb the additional CO2 now being added to the atmosphere from the burning of fossil fuels. It is a know scientific fact that higher levels of greenhouse gases, of which CO2 is a component cause a warming of Earth’s atmosphere. If CO2 is not kept in check and continues to rise at current levels it

Global warming would also destroy crops and other infrastructure and lead to intensive migration to other countries. Some countries would be forced to construct adequate sea defenses in order to protect their land from flooding. This would cause a great deal of financial input for which many countries may not be able to contribute.

There have already been pictures and images of polar bears being caught on isolated ice caps because of increased melting around them. The number of polar bears could reduce to a small level or even become extent all together in the wild. Increasing sea levels and less arctic ice would help shipping routes but destroy some of the living areas for polar bears and seals. It is thought that some areas of land, specifically in the Pacific, could disappear all together as sea levels rise.

Another effect of global warming is that of increasing the effects of drought. Droughts, which are fairly common in some parts of Africa, would become more common and more prolonged. This could lead to increased hardship amongst communities and famines. Local farmland would be destroyed leading to increased unemployment and migration of the population. In fact millions of people from developing countries might need to move, which would put added pressure on neighboring land.

Other countries may feel the effect of increased migration and this could cause hardship if population levels rise in certain areas. The effects of drought would also be to disrupt food production throughout the world and destroy agricultural land forever. This could increase the cost of food staffs including crops leading to a breakdown in some economies.

As temperatures rise, drought is not the only hardship. Inhabitants could find the temperatures as such that they cannot withstand them and it is thought that a significant number of people could die as heat waves spread across countries, especially in summer months. Thirty thousand people died in extreme weather in 2003 and it is thought that this can easily be replicated.

Increasing heat and decreasing water levels can also lead to increased tropical storms, which can lead to not only death but also destruction of homes and communities. This could have a side effect of increasing insurance claims and therefore insurance policies. The overall effect could be that some people may not be insured at all in the future and therefore can lose everything.

Generally, all waste-water treatment works, irrespective of their size, have to comply with strict governmental safety and regulations acts. It is the responsibility of the owner or local authority to be fully acquainted with all aspects of the safety guidelines for waste-water treatment operations. The potential danger of an explosion of biogas and air mixtures cannot be over- emphasised, therefore units such as the waste gas burner should preferably be situated at least 15 m away from the gas holder, digester(s) or any buildings, together with due consideration to the prevailing wind.

The health hazards associated with the treatment of waste-water and specifically sludge handling should not be under-estimated. It is the responsibility of the supervisor and the operating staff to acquaint themselves of the dangers and to take the necessary steps to avoid them.

A wide variety of disease-causing organisms are present in both the liquid phase and the sludge stage. Amongst these are salmonella, shigella and vibro that cause diarrhoea and other intestinal tract problems. Viruses are also usually present in waste-water sludges. Amongst these are viruses causing infectious hepatitis, poliomyelitis, sore throats, gastroenteritis and the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), which can cause AIDS. Protozoa such as entamoeba and giardia that cause intestinal distress are also common in waste-water treatment works. Helminths, such as ascaris (roundworm), taenia (tapeworm) and trichuris (whipworm) are also part of the bio-breakdown process but the ova of these can pass through the body and are fairly resistant to normal treatment processes including anaerobic digestion. Very high counts are usually found in sludge. The ova can survive in sol for several years.

Basic health hygiene rules apply when working in waste-water treatment plants; always wash up properly after working or handling any part of the waste-water treatment system or products. Try to avoid touching your face without washing your hands. Refrain from smoking whilst on the works, it is very easy to ingest disease-causing organisms. Protective clothing is an absolutely essential while working in a waste-water treatment plant especially while working with liquid sludges. Most of the guidelines associated with waste-water treatment are common sense. If one is not sure, every plant should have a code of health and hygiene that can be checked upon to see every health aspect associated with the waste plant.

All waste-water treatment works are classified as factories and must have first aid kit available in-case of accidents. The location of these first aid kits should be prominently displayed as well as the name of the first aid officer assigned to a specific section. It is recommended that all senior operating staff must have completed a basic first aid course. All open wounds should be treated by a doctor and it is important to receive a tetanus injection occasionally due to the types of bacteria workers are exposed to. As a general rule no scratch or cut is too minor to receive proper treatment.
Plastics result from the petrochemical industry (non-sustainable and environmentally disastrous) and are environmentally hazardous throughout their lifecycle; starting with their production which involves large-scale pollution, releasing potent chemicals such as dioxins, phthalates and toxic metals into our environment; and affecting human, animal, plant and aquatic life. Plastic is given different qualities through treatment with a cocktail of other terrifying chemicals, all of which can leach out of the individual products and into air (you know that new plastic smell?), water or something in close proximity to the plastic. And then what do we do?

We wrap our food up in it! Most supermarket food is placed on polystyrene trays, packed and smothered in cling film, displayed in glossy punnets, or preserved in tins lined with plastics. Next we eat the food (and possibly the leached plastic chemicals) and chuck the packaging into the bin. From here the plastics stay with us forever, being largely un-biodegradable. Tiny fragments of plastics are accumulating in the Pacific Ocean and wreaking havoc throughout the food chain. If the plastics are burnt, then they release a stream of unpronounceable and highly toxic chemicals into the environment (posing a huge risk to the health of fire-fighters, and possibly proving fatal to occupants of burning buildings who inhale PVC fumes). Plastics are quite literally a problem that will not go away.

They appear to be so useful and hygienic, but can seep dangerous chemicals into the foods which they come into contact with, possibly exacerbated by heat (think oven-safe and microwaveable packaging). Recent studies across America (including the University of Rochester and the National Centre for Environmental Health) have suggested that phthalates (chemicals found in plastics such as Clingfilm, vinyl and plastic bags) can cross the placenta, damaging the sexual development of male children (this is also recognised in other mammals) resulting in physical and possibly behavioural problems. A team of Swedish researchers have linked the household use of plastics to an increase in eczema, asthma and other allergies, and there is concern that the immature bodies of children and babies are at increased risk of toxic damage and build up of plastic chemicals, found in food packaging, toys and drinking bottles. (Several types of plastics have been phased out of use for toys of young children due to their health-risk). Further research has indicated a link between the use of plastics around food and the development of certain cancers such as breast cancer, immune problems, and even infertility.

So what can you do to reduce the amount of plastic in your life?

1) Ditch plastic bags, and always carry cloth bags and baskets; for fairly traded organic cotton bags try www.bishopstontrading.co.uk Keep bags in your car, and fold cotton bags up small in your handbag.

2) Chuck out the cling film and use unbleached brown paper and grease-proof paper or recycled aluminium foil to pack sandwiches and store foods in the fridge. Buy unbleached paper bags at www.soilassociation.org The paper bags can be reused several times and eventually composted or recycled with your newspapers.

3) Have your vegetables delivered to you to cut down on supermarket packaging; www.riverford.co.uk mostly use unbleached paper bags, cardboard punnets and boxes, cutting out a vast amount of packaging and waste. Ask your supermarket to provide unbleached paper bags, or take your own; my local shops are quite used to my strange behaviour by now! Try using local markets, fruit and veg shops or your farmers market and take your own baskets and bags; I get sellers to tip stuff straight into my bag if they do not have paper bags. A further bonus is that less stuff ends up in your bin, and you don’t spend an hour unpacking everything.

4) Drink tap water in stead of mineral water, and send kids to school with a drink in a metal sports container rather than plastic bottles. If you can’t bear the tap water, then buy the larger 5 litre mineral water bottles, or buy a water filter.

5) Go shabby Chic; spring-clean all of the plastic stuff out of the kitchen and invest in wooden spoons and chopping boards (both of which draw bacteria into the wood and kill it), have some fun choosing ceramic mixing bowls and other kitchen stuff. Look on Ebay for old-fashioned stoneware jelly moulds, and other traditional kitchen things. Don’t forget, Christmas is coming, so you can ask for some new things as presents.

6) Sometimes, having children seems to involve surrounding yourself with mountains of multi-coloured plastic, but with some careful buying you can choose safer products for your family and friends, especially for tiny vulnerable new babies. Look out for traditional rag dolls, and knitted woollen teddies, or visit www.naturalnursery.co.uk Buy young children wooden toys (www.borndirect.co.uk ) which can be safely chewed and sucked, discourage use of dummies (I know it isn’t that easy, I have been there) and source PVC-free, and glass baby bottles from www.greenbabyco.com Also you may wish to avoid chemical ‘fleece’ blankets and go for natural fibres www.borndirect.co.uk

7) Choose natural fibres in general. ‘Fleece’ materials may be extremely cheap, but are made of plastic derivatives (some are made of recycled plastic bottles). Synthetic clothes are an environmental nightmare because not only do they release dangerous chemicals during their processing, but they are almost indestructible, do not biodegrade and burn to release noxious chemicals back into the environment. In fact clothing is another area which you may wish to think about. It is worth considering that school clothes are thought to be some of the most chemically toxic items of clothing which you can buy. I know it is expensive, but go for real cotton, wool, linen and other natural fibres where possible.

Cutting down of the amount of plastic in your life will help you to eat more healthily (lots of local fruit and veg), give you a great excuse for a clear-out and a shopping spree, and help you work toward a more sustainable, and healthful lifestyle. There has been so much concern in recent years about the negative impact of ‘plastic living’ on our health, that there is plenty of choice when looking for alternatives

What does global warming have to do with allergies?

Global warming may have an impact on your seasonal allergies, according to recent research. Based on the information scientists have gleaned, there is reason to think that your allergies may become increasing worse as the temperatures change (and that people who had no previous allergic tendencies will begin to develop allergies). The warmer climate provides a longer growing season for ragweed and the additional carbon dioxide (CO2) present in the air substantially increases the amount of pollen produced.

The primary problem is the sheer amount of ragweed pollen being produced– the U.S. Department of Agriculture reports that ragweed pollen counts have doubled over the past 40 years. Perhaps this is one of the reasons that allergy and asthma related mortalities in the U. S. have practically doubled as well. This increase in deaths may not be attributed to worse symptoms, but an increase in individuals affected by allergies and asthma.

The Experiment:

Ragweed seedlings were planted over 315-day intervals. Different groups of plants were kept in glass houses and exposed to varying amounts of CO2. As the ragweed plants began to produce buds, open topped bags were placed over the flower clusters (called inflorescences) in order to collect the pollen they released. The plants that were exposed to greater amounts of CO2 had a high percentage of increased pollen production and the researchers deduced: “Overall, ragweed pollen production can be expected to increase significantly under predicted future climate conditions”.

(Visit the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences’ website to read the entire research lab report).

Because August is the month when ragweed begins to release pollen, here are a few things that you can do to reduce your exposure:

1. Keep all the windows and doors of your house closed – especially in the late afternoon and evening, which is when pollen counts climb dramatically.
2. Close the windows while driving in your car-and if your car’s air conditioning has the option to recycle the air in the car, turn it to this setting.
3. When outside, wearing a pair of sunglasses will not only protect your eyes from the glare of the sun, but it may help keep pollen from landing on the delicate linings of your eyes.
4. Avoid freshly mowed lawns and fields- it’s not only the pollen that causes allergies, the same protein found in ragweed pollen is also found in the plant itself. Mowing chops up the plants into tiny fragments that are just as easily inhaled as pollen.
5. Take off your shoes just outside your door to avoid tracking pollen indoors.
6. Keep your hair pulled back while you are outside and take a quick shower before going to bed to wash away any pollen that has collected in your hair and will be transferred to your pillow.
7. Use a HEPA air filter in your bedroom, or in place of your existing furnace/air conditioning filter to reduce the amount of free-floating pollen in your home. Dynamic Air Cleaners makes freestanding console units that are good for bedrooms and a panel filter that fits easily into the slot for your existing filter.

Global warming…I’m sure there are people out there who don’t want to hear one more thing about it! Right? Global warming is such a hot topic right now for politicians, environmentalists, and… allergy sufferers? That’s right. As the planet heats up, so does our battle against allergies and asthma. In fact, many scientists now acknowledge the link between global warming and breathing problems.

What does global warming have to do with allergies? As the planet heats up, winter seasons become shorter. That means longer stretches of warm weather – and allergies. Springtime has been arriving earlier, leading to months of misery for those with airborne allergies. How much earlier? 10-15 days earlier in the past three decades alone. And this trend is not expected to stop anytime soon. Thanks to the lengthening seasons, allergies aren’t just lasting longer; they’re becoming more severe as well. The problem is so serious that experts have been scrambling to create new policies and solutions. Even the World Health Organization has commented on the serious health implications of longer pollen seasons.

There is more carbon dioxide in the air during allergy season. This is detrimental to allergy sufferers because plants and weeds thrive when they’re exposed to more carbon dioxide. One sign of a strong plant is the amount of pollen it produces. And with pollen levels on the rise, people with allergies are noticing an increase in their symptoms.
If you’re a city dweller, you could have an even harder time. Cities act like giant greenhouses for weeds. The press of bodies and buildings trap heat, causing weeds to grow larger and release more pollen. The large number of people releasing carbon dioxide into city air also stimulates weed growth. Research has shown that city weeds can grow twice as large as their country cousins. To make matters worse, they also produce stronger pollen that wreaks havoc on allergies.

Global Warming Brings More Allergens

With longer occurrences of warm, wet weather – not to mention the increase in floods and storms – the air contains more mold and fungi than ever. This is bad news for allergy sufferers, since those are some of the most common allergens. Asthma is on the rise, too, especially among young children who live in the city.

Even in the dry seasons, dust, toxins and smog lurk in the air, making it harder to breathe. But global warming is such a big problem -what can allergy sufferers do to make living – and breathing – a bit easier?

Fortunately, there are plenty of options that don’t involve drug therapy (which can have unwanted side effects).

First, take care of your airways. Give yourself good air to breathe by investing in a HEPA filter. Clean all the air filters in your home. And don’t neglect your car’s air filter if you spend a substantial amount of time behind the wheel. Keep track of air quality alerts in your area; on days when allergens are high, stay indoors as much as possible and keep the windows closed. On hot days, carry out most of your physical activities in the morning before allergens have a chance to flourish in the midday heat.

Consume foods that help your airways function properly. This includes things rich in essential fatty acids, such as fish, seeds, and nuts. You can also take a good fish oil supplement.

Make your home as allergy free as possible. Carpets attract and trap dust, mites, and other allergens. Consider switching to hardwood flooring to improve your allergy symptoms. Regular cleaning of curtains, rugs and linens also helps to keep allergies at bay. And don’t forget about the health benefits of hypoallergenic trees and plants! Not only will they improve the air quality around your home, they’ll add beauty, too.

Global Warming has been an impending topic since years and very few people are looking into it. It has now reached levels where nations need to be involved to make the difference. Because the disadvantages of global warming are percolating into the life of the common man.

For instance along with atmospheric changes the warming has affected farming, there is a stark rise in sea levels, glaciers are reiterating, and most of all the climate is being affected. If this is not sufficient to scare us then the secondary effects on the same are said to be extreme weather changes, extinction of mass species, agricultural yields to change and trade routes are set to change.

If we take one aspect – changes in climate will lead to increase in diseases. Hence more people will fall ill. More discomfort, more running to the doctor, lesser beds in hospitals ….chaos. More claims to make with the health insurance, an industry that will dwindle because of the increasing pressure. Make a note of this and soon you will be able to understand the magnitude of the pressure on the insurance agencies – be it health, property, elements or any other.

Reasons for global warming are known to all. The industrial revolution in the mid 1700s began the emissions of harmful gases like methane, CFCs and nitrous oxide. Over the centuries the percentages of these harmful gases have increased alarmingly leading to world changes.

Okay so we all know the reasons, what about the solutions. Well they too are made known to us. But it is up to the individual conscience to retreat from wrong doing and amend the deteriorating environment. Also even though laws and regulations are in place, enforcement should be made compulsory. No one should be able to do as they please. Time to time checks or surprise checks should be carried out at noted industries so no monkey business can happen.

America’s obesity epidemic and global warming might not seem to have too much in common. But public health experts suggest that people can attack them both by cutting calories and carbon dioxide at the same time.

The reality is that obese people not only do more damage to themselves than thinner people, but they also do more damage to the physical environment and to the climate – both through the nature of their diets and through their more sedentary lifestyles. With a growing reluctance to walk or cycle, the more obese people will become.

What people constantly forget in all this is that the food supply chain, in its entirety, contributes at least 20% of total greenhouse gas emissions, and probably more, depending on how you define it. Relatively speaking, obese people consume up to 40% more in terms of calories,

One suggested way is to walk a half hour a day instead of driving. It is accepted to us that if we do walk anywhere, even just that half hour a day, calories will be burned and thus a start to being healthier and cutting down on emissions. That is one way Americans can simultaneously save the planet and their health. Suggested by many doctors and climate scientists, one scientist calculated that if Americans between 10 and 74 walked just a half hour a day instead of driving, they would cut the annual U.S. emissions of carbon dioxide, the main greenhouse gas, by 64 million tons. Although the effects of this would be great, it is very much likely to happen.

An estimated 6.5 billion gallons of gasoline would be saved and Americans would lose more than 3 billions pounds altogether. A simple intervention like walking to school is a climate change intervention, an obesity intervention and a diabetes intervention, making it an all in one change for the better.

Reducing car travel in favor of walking would not only cut obesity and greenhouse gases, they said, it would also mean less smog, fewer deaths from car crashes, less osteoporosis, fewer instances of diabetes and even less depression since exercise helps beat the blues.

It’s not just walking more and driving less that’s needed; a diet containing less red meat can also help curb greenhouse gas emissions as well as health risks. It takes much more land and energy to produce meat than vegetables and grains. Last year the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization reported that the meat sector of the global economy is responsible for 18 percent of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions.

Climate change is a deadly and worsening public health issue. In the year 2000, and estimated 160,000 people have died from malaria, malnutrition, drowning from floods and diarrhea. The problems are what climate scientists contend to be worsened by global warming. The American Public Health Association, which will soon be highlighting the health problems with global warming in April of next year, is seeking to connect obesity with climate change solutions, therefore presenting possibly one of the greatest public health opportunities within the past century.

While the drastic effects of global warming has been discussed in many scientific circles, had their run on TV and even had major exposure through well-meaning (but sadly inaccurate) Hollywood films, it’s a concern that has a broad political, economic, social and geographical significance to countries all over the world. Quite literally, for all of us, there is nowhere to hide, nowhere to run and we can’t stop the climate from changing. It’s just way too big for us.

How to recognize global warming

Whether or not it’s brewing something good or something bad, Nature always tries to warn us through many signs. The slow process involved in global warming results in many different things and some of its signs include:

Melting of glaciers

Most of the mountain glaciers on our planet that have been monitored for the past 150 years are reportedly shrinking. The glaciers most affected by global warming those located in the lower latitudes and many of them are disappearing. If glaciers continue to shrink, it could affect water supply in areas that depend heavily upon mountain watersheds.

If the scenarios of global warming continue, most of the glaciers that still stand today will disappear by 2100.

Ocean warming

Sea level increase is attributed to warmer temperatures, which in turn result to the melting of ice glaciers. Over the last 100 years, sea level has increased from 10 cm to 25 cm. Projections over the next hundred years indicate that sea level will rise higher, from about 15 cm to 90 cm. Based on the higher figure, that’s about 3 feet.

Translated, this could mean that beaches lose about 50 feet of area for every foot of increase in sea level. Some islands may even disappear beneath sea water completely.

Heat waves

Heat waves and periods of weather that are unusually warm are also signs of global warming. These may come about with varying degrees of their severity and frequency, causing concerns in the economics and health on a global scale.

How global warming brings climate change and what it means to us
The earth’s climate has always been changing, although not at an abrupt rate. There had been periods of warming and cooling in the earth’s 4.65 billion-year history. Strange as it may sound to some, this is the reason why life became possible on this planet millions of years ago. Unfortunately, not all of the changes in climate brought about by global warming may be beneficial to many of us.

For one, global warming will raise the temperatures in some regions of the Northern Hemisphere, causing the melting of mountain glaciers. This means that areas that are currently experiencing light snow may no longer experience snowfall anymore. Snowlines found in mountains in temperate regions may also be higher and packs of snow will melt earlier than before.

Spring may be experienced earlier and temperatures during night time and in winter will rise. The world will experience a more humid atmosphere since sea water will have a higher rate of evaporation. With greater humidity, rainfall is expected to increase on average.

Storms will also occur with more frequency and intensity. Ironically, water in the soil will evaporate faster, causing dryness between rains. Regions that are already considered dry will experience more dryness. Some semi-arid regions in the African continent, for example, may suffer more while areas that depend on their region’s mountain snow packs for irrigation will not benefit from earlier melting between growing seasons.

With warmer weather, some hurricanes will be more severe and winds are expected to blow stronger. It is also possible that wind patterns may shift. Extremely cold periods may be experienced as well.

The phenomenon known as El Nino may occur in more frequency and severity. This is expected to affect different regions in many countries. All in all, scientists will have some difficulty in predicting weather patterns.

With changes in climate brought about by global warming, health concerns and risks may also increase. Heat stress and diseases may become common in places that did not have any problems with them before.

Global warming is an issue that requires immediate action. Even plants and animal species are adversely affected by it. While many of the changes that occur in our planet are totally out of our hands, we have been direct contributors to events that have had negative effects on our environment. This is why many leading social and scientific organizations have urged nations to cooperate in the move to counter this worldwide problem before it’s too late.
