Indian natural herb Tulsi to fight back swine flu

Ayurveda, the traditional ‘science of life’, has a remedy for diseases when every other stream of medicine fails. Now, at a time when swine flu is spreading like wildfire across the world, Ayurveda has the remedy in the form of the miraculous herb, the basil leaves commonly known as Tulsi.

Tulsi, the purest and most sublime plant, has been known and worshipped in India for more than five millennia for its remarkable healing properties. Considered as an ‘Elixir of Life’, this wonder herb has now been claimed to keep the deadly swine flu at bay and help fast recovery in afflicted persons.

“The anti-flu property of Tulsi has been discovered by medical experts across the world quite recently. Tulsi improves the body’s overall defence mechanism including its ability to fight viral diseases. It was successfully used in combating Japanese Encephalitis and the same theory applies to swine flu,” Dr U K Tiwari, a herbal medicine practitioner says.

Apart from acting as a preventive medicine in case of swine flu, Tulsi can help the patient recover faster.

“Even when a person has already contracted swine flu, Tulsi can help in speeding up the recovery process and also help in strengthening the immune system of the body,” he claims.

Dr Bhupesh Patel, a lecturer at Gujarat Ayurved University, Jamnagar is also of the view that Tulsi can play an important role in controlling swine flu.

“Tulsi can control swine flu and it should be taken in fresh form. Juice or paste of at least 20-25 medium sized leaves should be consumed twice a day on an empty stomach.” This increases the resistance of the body and, thereby, reduces the chances of inviting swine flu,” believes Patel.

As its name suggests, Tulsi has again proved to be the ‘the incomparable’ medicine – this time, in the prevention and cure of swine flu.

The symptoms of the H1N1 flu virus in people are similar to the symptoms of seasonal flu and include fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. A significant number of people who have been infected with novel H1N1 flu virus also have reported diarrhea and vomiting. The high risk groups for novel H1N1 flu are not known at this time, but it’s possible that they may be the same as for seasonal influenza. However, Please consult a practitioner in case of any such symptoms. Doctors have strictly advised against self medication.

Although your chances of catching swine flu are small, there could come a time that you might be infected. But if it does happen, don’t lose hope. The virus can be fought with natural immune system boosters and antiviral substances. During this pandemic, these natural remedies can help you recover from even a deadly disease.

Furthermore, natural remedies can help prevent you from catching this disease, or any disease, in the first place. By strengthening your immune system, you increase your body’s ability to fight disease, viruses, and bacteria.

One way to boost your immune system is to take lots of Vitamin C. This antiviral vitamin can block the enzyme known as neuraminidase, which is needed by a virus in order to reproduce. There are anecdotes of people surviving the Spanish Flu by drinking large doses of Vitamin C. The elderly should take Vitamin E along with Vitamin C, to enhance the effects of the vitamin.

Garlic is common in most kitchens and it can also be used in the fight against the swine flu epidemic. It is an efficient natural antiviral herb. It is most potent when freshly crushed. Garlic must be consumed within one hour of crushing. Recommended dosage is two to three cloves per day. Organic garlic is more potent and effective than non-organic garlic. But remember that it can burn the stomach when taken in large amounts, so its a good idea to eat it with bread or yogurt.

My favorite way of taking large amounts of garlic, to fight normal colds and flues, is by spreading butter on toast and then adding garlic slices, or crushed garlic.

Possibly the best alternative to the medical drugs, Tamiflu and Relenza, is Green Tea. This is a highly effective antiviral. It decreases the production of the cytokine TNF-a, and inhibits the reproduction of neuraminidase as well. Best of all, it is natural, and therefore it doesn’t have any of the harsh side effects that synthetic drugs have. If you want to use Green Tea for this purpose, remember that what you get on the shelves of a grocery store might be relatively ineffective. Organic varieties, particularly those grown for health or medicinal purposes, are the best.

Another antiviral you can get is Resveratrol. It comes from the Japanese Knotwood root, from red grapes, and from raisins. It causes your cells to stop manufacturing viruses. There are supplements available in liquid form, for better absorption, and it has no toxic effects.

Apple juice is an antiviral that’s available everywhere. But if you want to have the best results, try making your own, in a juicer. You should include the skin and pulp. This is more powerful than simply using commercially-available apple juice.

Scuttellaria, better known as Skullcap, is an herb that can be taken as tea. It is an effective antiviral that is also used as a mild tranquilizer. Just like other natural antivirals, it inhibits the reproduction of neuraminidase.

Cat’s Claw, or Uncaria Tomentosa, boosts one’s immune system as well as decreasing the production of cytokine TNF-a. Your white blood cell count can be increased with this treatment. Although no toxicity is noted, however, it should not be used by children and pregnant women. This is due to its damaging effect on the DNA of growing cells.

There are still plenty of other natural treatments for the swine flu that you can find in your cupboard. You don’t necessarily need to drink synthetic medicines, or get vaccinations that can be harmful to your body.

Some complications among pregnant women as the Swine Flu continue to spread across the country, and soon to the world, and that this high-risk group needs to take antivirals as soon as infection is suspected. Just like what happen to a pregnant woman in Texas who suffers and died of Swine Flu infection. Medical officials believe that pregnant women are at higher risk of complications of influenza, whether it’s the seasonal influenza or pandemics of the past.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) investigates twenty cases of pregnant women with the swine flu, most of them experienced complications. Complications can include pneumonia, dehydration and premature birth. It is very important that doctors who are caring for pregnant women they suspect may have influenza, that they issue prompt treatment with antiviral medicines the Tamiflu and the Relenza. Doctors can be hesitant to take care of pregnant women with antiviral drugs and pregnant women may be disinclined to take them out of fear that they may pose a risk during pregnancy.

The benefits of using the antiviral drugs to treat influenza in a pregnant woman outweigh the theoretical concerns about the drugs strongly say by the medical experts who have looked into this situation. Of the three swine-flu related deaths in the United States, one involved a 33-year-old pregnant woman from Texas who had other health problems before she was infected with the virus.

From the undetermined source that only one out of three Americans would get Swine Flu vaccine. So, it means the vaccine manufacturers have no enough capability to do more drugs against the outbreak.
There are many people who become ill don’t seek medical attention and are never tested for this strain of flu especially if they only knew that they only have simple kind of flu.

In other news that we”??ve read about the number of Swine Flu cases from hospital records doesn”??t match with the real numbers suspected because they declined to seek medical attention.

The report also suggested that the true number of largely unreported swine flu infections in Mexico, the outbreak’s epicenter, possibly had already reached 32,000 cases and approximately 1% of them are pregnant women too. The World Health Organization’s official tally for Mexico stood at 2,059 confirmed human infections, including 56 deaths.

The United States has now surpassed Mexico believed to be the source of the outbreak as the country most affected by the epidemic, according to WHO statistics. The agency reported that there are 6,497 confirmed cases of swine flu in 33 countries, with Canada, Spain and the United Kingdom having the most cases outside of the United States and Mexico.

In the meantime, back in Mexico, federal health officials said that the worst seemed to be over despite more deaths, toll rose to 58 deaths and 2,282 confirmed cases of swine flu a rise of two deaths and 223 more cases.

World Health Organization expert expressed support for the more selective use of antiviral medicines such as Tamiflu and Relenza against Swine Flu even though the pregnant women and the doctors of the pregnant women are declining the use of antiviral drugs. According to health officials that there are some European countries aggressively take antiviral drugs throughout their population to save themselves.

While countries like the United States and Mexico, they are trying to save their patients with underlying conditions and also the other groups at risk, such as pregnant women and be treated. Swiss drug maker Roche Holding AG offered a charitable work to donate some of their Tamiflu supplies to the WHO enough for nearly 6 million people.

Flu prevention and any prevention is very important today with the swine flu being spread the way it is. This article will give you the tools you need to prevent the swine flu in a healthy and affordable proven way.

People are wearing surgical masks to prevent themselves from getting the swine flu this is not and should not be the thing to do. Yes you need to protect yourself out in public but not with a mask. By the way the masks do not work. Bacteria builds up on the outside of the mask so you actually breathe in more bad stuff. The other problem is that the swine flu is only the beginning. The swine flu was predicted and this will be followed by other strains so you need to know how to prevent the flu and block swine flu before it is too late, before you or someone you know catches it. Swine flu is spreading and you or someone you know will probably get it.

Why? Because you need to take this into your own hands and be responsible for your own health and safety because people being sick is business. It is big business at that. The more people who are sick, who have cancer, who have this disease and that disease, the more people who have swine flu, the more money the pharmaceutical companies make in the World. And believe me they do not want to tell you how to prevent the flu and block swine flu because they want you sick. This is how the pharmaceutical companies make money. It is just like the cigarette business. Sickness and disease is a trillion dollar business.

There are natural ways to prevent the swine flu and that is what I have done. I have studied nutrition for years and it is amazing how healthy I felt when I stopped drinking soda. Not to mention the weight that I lost. That is just an example that most of us can relate to as many of us drink soda which is loaded with shelf life preservatives.

With that you have to replace on a nutrition level the proper nutrients which fight off and prevent disease and sickness like swine flu and any other bad bacteria that comes your way. You also need to know what natural plant foods fight off certain diseases. There are many for every form of bad bacteria there is a natural way to protect yourself against it and that includes fighting off swine flu or any flu strain with healthy plant ingredients that have worked for hundreds of years.

This is what I have done and through my own research and the research of thousands of others I have found amazing real products like the root of the Gelsemium plant which has been used since the days of the early settlers in America to address fevers. So the key is to find a natural remedy that has Gelsemium and other natural plant extracts in one formula that naturally the way Mother Nature intended it to be to prevent and protect yourself, your family, kids, friends and so on from getting the swine flu and any other new or old flu strain or flu epidemic.

The bottom line is that you have to take this into your hands and be proactive like myself and thousands of others and not wait until you get sick. Do not get sick period and do not live in fear or worry as there are amazing alternatives out there that actually work in preventing the flu. I know because I use one.

Many people are afraid of contracting swine influenza, but there are several ways to prevent yourself from becoming one of its victims.

Cases show that the swine flu symptoms are much like the seasonal flu; only this type of influenza is said to be deadlier. There have been casualties in Mexico and one reported death of an infant on U.S. soil. Medical experts are still baffled as to why the virus seems to be more potent in Mexico than anywhere else in the world.

The CDC has already stated that there’s no effective vaccine against this swine flu virus. Plus, vaccinations can have harmful side effects on our bodies.

The best thing one can do during a pandemic outbreak is to avoid crowded places when possible. The best preventive measure is to avoid places where you’ll be in direct contact of a lot of people.

Unnecessary travel should be avoided as well. The air on a plane might be filtered, but if you’re sitting next to an infected person, you’ll be at a higher risk of getting the swine flu. Once that person sneezes or coughs, transmission of the virus could occur. If you really need to travel on a plane, and are worried about contracting the illness, you can wear a facemask.

In any infected area it is best not to kiss, or even shake someone’s hand. This helps prevent the transmission of any contagious illness, whether it be swine flu, bird flu, or the common cold. It may seem paranoid, but it is one way to protect yourself. Another way of preventing yourself from getting a contagious illness is by not sharing your food, glasses, or silverware (cutlery) with anyone.

If you yourself are infected with the swine flu virus, you can help by taking measures not to spread it around. As much as possible, you should stay at home. Don’t go roaming around, spreading the virus. Also, be sure to cover your nose and mouth with tissue when sneezing or coughing. Then throw the tissue away immediately. It’s also general proper practice to wash your hands, with soap and water, after sneezing or coughing. You can use alcohol-based hand sanitizers if you don’t want to wash your hands. In this case, using pure grain alcohol (such as the strongest alcohol you could get at a liquor store) is healthier than using isopropyl alcohol (such as the rubbing alcohol you would get at a drug store.)

Swine flu symptoms include sudden high fever, headache, cough, aching joints, general fatigue, and nasal congestion. You will also probably experience diarrhea, vomiting and nausea. When you have these symptoms it is best to consult a doctor right away. Unless you’re really seriously ill, don’t go straight to hospital ER or the doctor’s office, as you could spread the virus to others in the area.

Swine flu — it’s all over the media. What is it? What can I do? And how worried should I be? These are the questions I ask myself, especially as a mother. At some level, we all know that becoming riddled with fear doesn’t help. So let’s take action where we can. Be cautious where necessary and get the relevant information we need.

Let’s first define swine flu. The name itself is horrible — a visual image of filthy pigs wallowing in murky muck. And that image isn’t too far off from its origins. So maybe the swine aren’t bathing in muddy waters but this type of influenza is a contagious respiratory virus that affects pigs.

So why is it spreading to more humans now? In the past there have been limited instances where the virus has spread to people, but it had never gone beyond three people. As of right now, scientists aren’t sure how some cases have occurred without any contact to pigs.

What are the symptoms? They’re similar to flu-like symptoms: high fever and chills, lethargy, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea, lack of appetite, coughing, sore throat, runny nose, body aches, and headaches.

How does it spread? The same way the flu does. A person is put at risk two ways: If an infected person coughs or sneezes on them, or if they touch something that has the flu virus on it and then they touch their mouth, nose or eyes. However, what makes it sometimes difficult to prevent is that an infected person can pass the virus along even before any symptoms develop. But there are precautions that we can take.

What precautions can we take to help prevent the spread of the virus?

Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the Kleenex into the garbage.

Wash, wash, wash. Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze and before eating. Hand sanitizers that are alcohol-based can also effective.

Germs spread by touching your eyes, nose or mouth so avoid this.

If you think you’re sick, avoid any close contact such as hugging, kissing and even shaking hands.

Watch for signs and symptoms in you and members of your family. The first few days are when the virus is most contagious so keep your children home if these symptoms exhibit themselves or stay home from work.

Can swine flu be fatal? We’ve already heard of some fatalities but we also need to think of statistics — mainly stratified statistics. These deaths — like many flu deaths — are most likely people with already compromised immune systems, such as infants and the elderly. If we look at the statistics in a generally healthy population, the numbers may be virtually nil.

Are there any vaccines or medicines available to treat the swine flu? As of now, there aren’t any vaccines available but we can still take those preventative measure listed above. And if infected, the CDC recommends anti-viral medications so that the virus can’t reproduce inside the body.

Let’s live in the present and use wisdom with our choices, eliminating fear and encouraging awareness.

Dr Keiji Fukuda, the Assistant Director-General of the World Health Organisation (WHO) at the press conference on July 7 2009 presented the latest reported figures from 137 countries, territories, and areas reporting confirmed laboratory cases as over 98,000, with over 440 deaths. He stated that the swine flu pandemic continues to evolve quite rapidly with over 3,000 confirmed cases daily. In the Southern Hemisphere where they are in the winter months and entering their regular influenza season, they may see a pattern which is different from what is being seen in the Northern Hemisphere such as the United States and the UK.

Swine flu today”

Dr Fukuda stated that the Southern Hemisphere is seeing the same activity as in other countries. For example, Australia was reporting heavy swine flu activity in the Victoria area, whereas it was at lower levels in other parts of Australia for a while and is now picking up again.

Colds and flu share the same symptoms. However, the two viral infections are very different. The flu viral disease is a respiratory infection and usually occurs once a year or every few years, whereas most people catch a cold several times in a year.

In adults the serious symptoms of swine flu include:

* A fever over 100F and typically up to 105F.
* A hacking cough.
* Shortness of breath, wheezing and difficult breathing.
* Chest pain caused by persistent coughing.
* Confusion and dizziness.
* Muscle aches.
* Sore throat.
* Flu symptoms improve and then return with a high fever and a worse cough.

In children the serious signals include:

* Wheezing and difficulty in breathing with a hacking cough.
* Severe vomiting.
* A pasty complexion.
* Not drinking sufficient fluids.
* The flu symptoms improve as in the adult and the return with a high fever.

These are all warning signs to seek urgent medical attention without delay, certainly within two days, when Tamiflu is at its most effective.

The most common method for diagnosing the swine flu virus is an antigen test, which is carried out from swabs taken from the nose and throat for testing at the laboratory. If pneumonia is suspect then a chest X-ray will result.

The real scale of this health crisis is difficult to quantify, as constant random mutation is the name of the game for these bugs. They have been around since the beginning of time and have developed their own ways of survival in their microbial world. It will not be long before they will survive our current chemical remedies for swine flu and even bird flu.

Swine flu, now called H1N1 influenza A, is a type of flu virus. It is a new strain of flu that has just recently been affecting people. It is not caught from pigs or by eating pork. It is a human influenza virus and is being spread by people. It is thought to be a combination of three different flu viruses – swine flu, bird flu and human flu. The new strain is extremely contagious and is quickly spreading across the globe.

H1N1 is different from other strains of influenza. This particular strain of influenza has not been previously exposed to humans before so there are no built up immunities to it. This is what makes it so serious. At the current time there is no preventative drug that you can take in order to avoid getting it. That is why people who are elderly, very young or those who have compromised immune systems must be extremely careful to avoid getting the flu.

Just how dangerous it will be remains to be seen. We are just beginning to see the start of the cases in the United States. It is thought to have originated in Mexico but has since spread globally. The worst cases of it seem to be in Mexico, likely because many people were unaware of the dangers of the flu and did not seek immediate medical treatment.

It was renamed H1N1 influenza A to avoid people making a connection to pigs. This is similar in some ways to the flu that hit the world decades ago. However it is proving to be more serious. The outbreak is becoming serious because nobody has any immunity to this particular strain of influenza. It is estimated that approximately 1 in 4 people who come into contact with swine flu with contract it.

The swine flu has similar symptoms to standard seasonal flu bugs. Swine flu is characterized by a high fever at first and extreme fatigue along with muscle aches. There are also typical cold symptoms that accompany the swine flu including a cough and a sore throat and stuffy nose. Some people additionally have reported nausea or vomiting and diarrhea. The severity of the symptoms is what leads most doctors to consider a diagnosis of swine flu.

Anyone who has the symptoms should seek medical attention right away. Those who get immediate treatment are most likely going to make a full recovery. Doctors take a nose and throat swab sample to send to the lab for testing. The results will be returned within several days. The treatment is a drug called Tamiflu. The doctor will prescribe Tamiflu if it is needed. Most people will get over the swine flu within just a few days. Once you have had swine flu your body will have an immunity from this particular strain in the future.
