<p>When most people start on a weight-loss regime the first thing they wish to attack is their waistline. They start off with visions of turning a beer gut into an abdominal six-pack. After a few weeks of strenuous exercise nothing appears to happen and soon they lose confidence and give up.</p>

We&#8217;ve all heard the old saying: &#8220;The height of stupidity is to repeat the same thing and expect a different result.&#8221; If it isn&#8217;t working you try a different routine and you keep doing that until you find the routine that does work, that is the way of winners.</p>
<h2>Why These Exercises do not Reduce Waist</h2>
<p>The first thing you must accept is that all abdominal exercises only strengthen abdominal muscles, if those muscles are covered by a layer of fat when you start they will still be covered by the same layer of fat when you finish. You will have stronger abdominal muscles but you will not look any different. Therefore your attempt to create figure from fat will have failed. The secret to making these abdominal exercises work is to lose fat first. You lose fat by diet and aerobic exercise, by burning more calories than you take in with food. When you have reduced your waistline to a more natural size you can then take up abdominal exercises and start working on that perfect six-pack.</p>

Maybe walking up the stairs instead of using the escalator, any small act of this nature that adds to your normal exercise output is aerobic exercise and burns calories.</p>

<p>Furthermore it makes sense to eat five or six meals each day rather than two or three. Why? Because you will eat smaller meals and it is better for your metabolism to deal with smaller meals rather than large meals. You can also eat between these meals providing you restrict it to a piece of fruit or a raw carrot. Dieting doesn&#8217;t have to be hard it has to be sensible.<br />
Your brain doesn&#8217;t get the message that your stomach is full for at least twenty minutes after it is full. How often have you eaten way beyond the capacity that is required simply because the message hasn&#8217;t got through?</p>

<p>For most of us, the #1 challenge in the quest to stay in shape and/or lose weight is not exercising itself but being able to actually fit an exercise program into our busy schedules. So how do you do it? How do you balance the demands of family, career, important errands, relationships, organizational responsibilities, and working out? Here is some keys that will help you to be able to fit a consistent workout plan into your already hectic life.</p>
<h2>Commit to a specific schedule</h2>
<p>When you fail to plan you plan to fail. Don&#8217;t try to haphazardly fit your workouts into your schedule without any rhyme or reason. Don&#8217;t think you&#8217;re guilty? If you&#8217;ve ever told yourself &#8220;I&#8217;ll workout as soon as I get some time&#8221;, you were in direct violation of this key principle.</p>
<p>In order to set yourself up for success, you will need to take the time to literally write your workouts into your weekly schedule. In order to be effective, you will want to be following your exercise program at least 3 days per week. Anything less would be kidding yourself. Therefore, right in the midst of all of your appointments, &#8220;to-do&#8221; lists, etc., should be a written plan for your weekly workout routine, so that you will never be in the dark as to when you committed to yourself to go.</p>
<h2>Utilize the weekend</h2>
<p>Take advantage of the fact that it only takes 3-5 days per week to put together an effective, results-producing workout. One trick to help you pull it all off is to workout on the weekends. One of the benefits to this course of action is that your schedule is more flexible and under your control during this time. What is also means is that when the hectic weekdays roll back around, you will only be responsible for working out 1-3 days during the work week.</p>
<h2>Keep your workouts as a high priority</h2>
<p>One of the biggest mistakes that even many people who have scheduled a workout program into their schedule make is allowing it to be bumped off of their schedule to easily. Although things will occasioally come up that will cause you to have to reschedule the workout you had planned, you must be vigilant in making sure that only the most important emergencies are allowed to temporarily take you off of your plan.</p>
<p>In the event that one of those important emergencies does happen and you can&#8217;t make it to your workout, reschedule with yourself to make it up on the next possible day that you are available to do so. If your own health, fitness, and efforts to lose weight are not a priority to you, they certainly won&#8217;t be so to anyone else.</p>
<h2>Enroll others in your goals</h2>
<p>Don&#8217;t go at this alone. Let the important people in your life know what you are up to. Your spouse or love interest, parents, children, co-workers, and close friends will often pitch in and help you to meet your fitness or weight loss commitment to yourself if you make them aware and ask for their support.</p>
<p>Leverage these relationships to delegate some of your normal responsibilities or even allow you to shift appointments that you have with them as you restructure your schedule for your workout. If any of them are into exercise or trying to lose weight themselves, don&#8217;t hesitate to form a buddy system with them as you move forward with your program.</p>
<h2>Don&#8217;t beat yourself up</h2>
<p>No matter who you are, there will be times in your workout program that you just aren&#8217;t able to keep it up as you would like due to outside demands. Don&#8217;t be too tough on yourself when that happens.</p>
<p>Remember that it is what you do consistently over a long period of time, not what you do in spurts, that truly counts. Just make sure that you get back on the horse full force as soon as you can and continue to press forward, doing your best to avoid slacking off again.</p>

<p>The classic is the best, but you can do close-grip pushups, decline pushups,  or pushups with your feet on the ball. <p>These require less balance than forward lunges, and also work the glutes and  hamstrings more than forward lunges.  Do 8-12 repetitions per exercise. Don&#8217;t rest between exercises. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Do you sometimes get bored with your aerobic exercise? Do You sometimes feel  like you&#8217;re not getting the results you should from your aerobic exercise? If  so, then aerobic cross-training is for you.</p>
<p>Aerobic cross-training refers to using two to three different types of  aerobic exercise during an exercise session. For example, if you plan to  exercise for 60 minutes, you might start with 20 minutes of walking or jogging,  followed by 20 minutes of biking, and finish with 20 minutes of rowing. You can  start with something as simple as a ten minute walk followed by ten minutes with  an exercise video. This is cross-training too. You can gradually build up from  there.</p>
<p>Here are some of the exercises you can use in your cross-training program;  walking, jogging, biking, rowing, stair climbing, swimming, exercise videos,  etc. Any combination of aerobic exercises will do. You simply go from one to the  next with very little time between them.</p>
<h2>Aerobic cross-training is beneficial to you in several ways:</h2>
<ol>
<li><strong>It provides variety which eliminates </strong>the monotony often associated    with doing the same exercise for a long period of time.</li>
<li><strong>If your exercise sessions are less monotonous </strong>and more enjoyable,    you are much more likely to exercise moreoften and for longer periods of time.</li>
<li><strong>You are less prone to over-use injuries that </strong>sometimes occur from    doing the same exercise movements over and over again.</li>
<li><strong>You tone more muscles because you are using more muscles.</strong> For    example, walking tones mostly the lower body muscles and rowing tones upper    body muscles also. Even exercises like walking and biking that both tone lower    body muscles, tone them at different angles and each tones some small muscles    that the other doesn&#8217;t.</li>
<li><strong>Aerobic conditioning is very specific </strong>to the muscles being worked.    For example, you can walk ten miles a day and still be somewhat breathless    after climbing stairs because you haven&#8217;t trained the muscles for that    specific movement. Aerobic cross-training allows you to develop more    comprehensive aerobic training.</li>
<li><strong>Aerobic cross-training is effective for weight loss</strong> because your    are toning and training the fat-burning systems of more of your muscles. It    turns more of your muscles into 24-hour fat-burning machines! You are also    more likely to exercise on a regular basis and for longer periods of time.    this also promotes weight loss and fitness.</li>

<p>By burning 500 calories a day you can lose 1 pound of body fat in one week. By  combining exercise with a reduction in calories you are able to make it easier  to attain a calorie deficit. By riding a stationary bike for a half hour and  reducing 200 calories from your daily caloric intake you can create the 500  calorie deficit without having to starve yourself or exercise yourself to  exhaustion.</p>
<p>Another advantage of exercise is that after you exercise your resting metabolic  rate (RMR) is elevated for several hours. Weight training has a longer effect on  your RMR than aerobic exercise. Recent studies have shown that the raise in the  resting metabolic rate from weight training can last up to 36 hours depending on  the intensity of the weight training session.</p>
<p>Exercise helps preserve muscle tissue, which when trying to lose weight is a  dieters advantage. Lean body mass (muscle) burns more calories per day than fat  tissue. This is why building muscle mass is important when trying to lose  weight. The more muscle that you build the more calories you will burn resulting  in greater fat loss.</p>
